Superkids- Read pages 24- 29 in It’s Tricky
Do handout Leaf Me Alone
Religion-On a calendar in your home, mark days when you will spend time preparing for First Eucharist as a family, even if it involves something as simple as practicing a prayer.
Science- Read a book or article about a plant’s or animal’s life cycle this week. Write down the name of the book/article and 3 facts that you learned from the book. This is due on Or before Monday 1st February .

Superkids- Read pages 30-35 in It’s Tricky
Do handout What’s Inside a box?
Religion-Do something as a family that will remind you of Jesus’s actions in the scripture story. ( Jesus Feeds the Hungry) For example, donate some bread and bottled water to a shelter or food pantry this week.
Religion- Angel of God Recitation test tomorrow

Wednesday, January 27
Superkids- Read pages 36 to the back cover Do handout Sky High
Religion-With your family share and discuss a specific prayer or action that you recall from mass.

Thursday, January 28
Reading- Read aloud to a parent or guardian for at least twenty minutes. Use the Fluency handout to help you. Write down the title of the book and who you read to on a piece of paper.
Religion- Write down the Act of Contrition Prayer and draw a picture of it on a piece of paper. Use the former test and handout to help you. Students that scored 100% on the written test with 100% correct spelling do not have to this.

(Article Summary- Students will read two separate articles in this lesson. In “Can goldfish learn tricks?” students will discover the trick to teaching a goldfish to shoot a basketball! In “Tough Stuff,” they’ll read real children’s responses to a question about things that have been hard to learn and tricks they’ve used to help themselves.)

Parent Sacramental prep classes 19th January and 16th February
Dear parents,
There will be a Parent Sacramental prep meeting on Tuesday the 19th January at 7pm ahead of First Reconciliation.
We require that at least one parent from each family is present at the Sacramental Preparation class.
There will also be a second session on the 16th February at 7pm.

Cross-Curriculum Connection /Science: Have a discussion about tornados and waterspouts and what causes them. For a fun experiment, make a tornado in a jar by filling a mayonnaise- sized jar 3⁄4 full with water. Add a teaspoon of liquid soap and a teaspoon of vinegar to the water. Add food coloring if desired. Tighten the lid and shake it so it mixes well, then swirl the jar quickly in a circular motion to form a vortex or small tornado.
Research corn-based products: Many things are made of corn. Have students use the Internet to research the large number of uses for corn in making other products.

Research the Titan flower Have students search the Internet (keyword: Titan flower) to learn more about this unusual flower. Students should write 3–4 facts they learned through their research and illustrate their findings.

Cross-Curriculum Connection/ Social Studies: Using photographs found on the Internet or in library books, have a discussion about ancient Egypt and the time of King Tutankhamen. Include the pyramids, mummies, tombs, and hieroglyphs (pictures used to represent words) in your discussion. You may also wish to search the Internet using the keywords “hieroglyph translator” for an English-to-hieroglyph translation. Students can print out their names in hieroglyphs and practice drawing the symbols.
